Description

Although most Viking helmets were simple nasal spangenhelms, some more elaborate examples have been found. Some of these have the addition of a spectacle-like face plate. This ocular plate protects much of the face from slashes, though it will not stop a well aimed thrust from the spear or sword. Few items were as important to the survivability of the raiding Viking than a sturdy, stout helmet.

This Viking Spectacle Helmet is crafted from 14 gauge riveted steel and has a been lined on the inside with an adjustable leather liner. The inside of the spectacle plate is well-padded and likewise covered with leather. An integrated brown leather adjustable chin strap with brass buckle is riveted into the helm.
